Dan, the President and Founder of SparrowHawk Group brings over 40 years of experience in the insurance industry, having successfully launched and led multiple insurance organizations. His extensive background, including founding Axiom and Origin Specialty, highlights his expertise in creating and managing profitable insurance programs. Dan’s leadership ensures that SparrowHawk stands for quality, innovation, and excellence in serving its clients, drawing on decades of industry knowledge and a proven track record of success.

• Do you have any unusual habits or quirks that your friends and family find amusing?

  I laugh at my own jokes. Self-amusement is infectious.

• What’s your go-to method to refocus and recharge when things get stressful?

  I watch old western movies.

• If you could share one piece of wisdom with your younger self, what would it be?

  I would tell my younger self that it’s OK to fail and keep trying. I spent so much time beating myself up and feeling depressed over my first business that didn’t work out. Only years later, I now realize that it was merely a stepping-stone to bigger and better things. Without failure, there’s no lesson. Every idea won’t be a success — especially the first one — and you’ll need to get back up many times in life.

  Entrepreneurship is built on belief, courage, and strength, and unless you’re willing to fail, you’ll never succeed.

• Are there any words, quotes, or ideas that you turn to for guidance or motivation?

  The man is as worth as his word. Honesty and integrity are my guiding principles.

• What’s one misconception about the outsourcing industry you wish people understood?

  Outsourcing is accessible to big businesses. Although outsourcing companies are more attracted to bigger clients, they are not closing their doors to small businesses. Small and medium-sized entities are their top customers. Because of the cost savings that small and medium-sized businesses can get from outsourcing services, the outsourcing industry chooses no size.

• What's a unique aspect of SparrowHawk that you appreciate or are thankful for?

  I am very thankful for our people. They are very smart, energetic, quick learners and very eager to succeed.

• What are you most excited about for the future of SparrowHawk?

  I am very excited about the future of Sparrowhawk because we can offer services most of our competitors cannot. We can perform more complex tasks quickly and work during the same working hours our US customers do.

• What’s your proudest professional achievement?

  I am very proud to build two startup companies that were very successful in their fields, Axiom Insurance Managers and Origin Specialty Underwriters.

• What are some fun facts about you outside of work?

  I always enjoyed good wine both drinking it and making wine as well. Its been a long family tradition. When I am not working in the insurance industry I spend time at my winery.

• How do you envision contributing to SparrowHawk’s long-term success?

  I can use my over 40 years of MGA experience to help Sparrowhawk’s clients improve their efficiencies and processes that will significantly drive down their costs and expenses. My goal is to keep Sparrowhawks clients happy.
